CAREGIVER STRESS: REGAINING YOUR ENERGY, STAYING MOTIVATED AND PREVENTING BURNOUT @ Church of Reconciliation | Chapel Hill | North Carolina | United States

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is announcing a workshop entitled Caregiver Stress: Regaining Your Energy, Staying Motivated, and Preventing Burnout.

This event will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Reconciliation, located at 110 N. Elliott Road in Chapel Hill.

Complementing the sorority’s physical and mental health programmatic thrust, Journey to Wellness: Committing our Bodies to Physical and Mental Health, the workshop is aimed at anyone who provides physical and/or emotional care for an ill or disabled loved one.  At the conclusion of the program, the participants will be able to recognize the physical and emotional toll of caregiving, discuss coping strategies to prevent burnout, and gain an overview  of dementia.

Guest speakers include Goldie S. Byrd, PhD, Director for the Center for Outreach in Alzheimer’s Aging, and Community Health at NC A&T; Cheryl L. Woods-Giscombe, PhD, Melissa and Harry LeVine Family Professor of Quality of Life, Health Promotion and Wellness at UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing; and Lisa Gwyther, MSW, LCSW, Director for Duke Center for Aging’s Alzheimer’s Family Support Program.

This workshop is FREE and open to the public. Registration is encouraged. Please visit http://chcaa-dst.org/caretakers-workshop-registration-now-open/ by April 17, 2018 to register. The Central Carolina Black Nurses Council, Inc. is a co-sponsor of this event.
