The Idea of India: From Gandhi to Modi

March 16 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

March 16, 2016

Iqbal Singh Sevea, Assistant Professor of History

India is the world’s second most populous country and recent analyses suggest it will overtake China soon. Its economy is one of the world’s fastest growing and its footprint in international affairs is ever-expanding. Yet the road to such success has not been easy, nor has India overcome all the problems that come from decades of low economic output, high poverty, population growth, and sectarian violence. Join Iqbal Sevea as he reviews the history of India from independence to today in light of its past and present challenges.

TIME: 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.
