Express yourself with acrylics and oils! Local artist and teacher Evan Hirasawa runs a drop-in painting studio in Chapel Hill. Both budding and more experienced artists are welcome to visit for a creative reprieve. Dropin studio hours are open to the public. It is a pay-as-you-go system and a reservation is not required. Mothers and daughters or fathers and sons make great painting partners. A broad range of canvases are provided along with palettes, brushes, nontoxic oils, acrylics and adorable aprons to wear. Evan teaches painting technique and the fundamentals of drawing with a focus on assisting students to become inspired. Creating original art pieces is highly encouraged!
The studio atmosphere is calm and instruction is readily available. Students are invited to paint for a minimum of one hour or more. The studio is a relaxing place to let one’s imagination wander for several hours during the weekend.
You are invited to visit her website for more information at artwithevan.com or call (919) 218-4342. The studio address is 120 Old Durham Road in Chapel Hill. Applications are now being accepted for Summer Fine Arts Camps, “Gigantic Oils!” The themes and weeks are posted on her website.
